Borneo - The Reed Mule and Cart team swung off the last turn on the Borneo track and placed first in this widely publicized race. Linus Reed drove his cart to an unequalled time of 13 hours and 7 minutes to break the previous record by 1 hour and 1 minute. Reed's co-pilot passed the reins on to Reed during the last lap, so that the team leader could bask in the Victory which has eluded him for so long. Reed piloted across the finish line and then went for a victory lap and into the winner's circle.

Flooded by reporters, Reed had this to say - " I know the pit crew deserves the applause...when I lost a wheel on lap 234, I though we were done. But the pit crew came through....plus the mule was incredible- he was like a jet !". Reed is expected to collect four hundred thousand dollars for this win, and expects to compete in the Grand Prix Mule and Cart race in Barcelona in the spring. Says Reed - " I am going to train that darned mule to win at any cost....He's gonna do it; I can feel it in my heart ...".
