Lighthouse moved - tribute to Ron Jemerey

Cape Hatteras, NC - "Wow, I could only imagine what that would be like to have. How would you carry it around in your pants?." joked surveyor Chris Pliant to his co-workers.

Yesterday morning here in Cape Hatteras locals celebrated the relocation of their old candy painted lighthouse, which was dedicated to the career of xxx actor Ron Jemerey, who is from this small community. Locals, tourists, and surveyors all watched as the long candy painted shaft was in essence brought to a limp while it was being moved to it's new home. And small festival was thrown for the event.

"Oh it's fun. We brought the kids down to watch and everyone seems to be having a good time." local Cathy Stoddard commented. "It's amazing on just how big that thing really stands."

In the coming weeks, a brick tower will be built on top of a four-foot thick concrete foundation, and the lighthouse then will be gradually be lowered onto the bricks and a new east and west wing will added containing a movie theater, the Ron Jemerey Memorial Museum, and a few novelty stores.

"It's been a blast. There are a lot of boots and the carnival rides have been a great entertainment for our family and the rest of us Hatterans." said Steve Cramn. "The lighthouse has stood erect ever since I could remember and now it has reason to be visited."

The new wings are set to be ready and opened later this year.
