Compton, CA-Willie Stewart, a high school bus driver is sorry that the children on his bus have a longer walk than usual when they exit his bus but after being shot at, stabbed and beat-up he has flatly refused to go into The Villa Apartments. "Those residents in that complex are just too ghetto for me. When I complained about the high crime in the apartments, one parent told me to "Shut up or die." The city won't assign a police officer to ride on the bus route so Mr. Stewart decided that he would drop the children off outside of the complex. The parents feel that their children are being treated unfairly. "Sure some of us have felony records and some of us are still on probation, but we pay taxes and our children have a right to the same bus service that the other children have." The bus driver is planning to meet with the school board to request that he be issued a bulletproof vest.
