| Consumer Tip On What Not To Buy! |
News Brief | |||
This test was a dandy, showing that even the most innocent objects can turn into deadly items if they are damaged. I bought 3 baskets like this - 1 for the wash and 2 for assorted chores. While the colors were cute and appealing, that's all this cheap basket had going for it. After only 2 uses carrying light items, the basket started to come apart and the plastic tore into shards which were as sharp as razors. Even the handles have extremely sharp edges designed only for someone with special gloves, otherwise you risk losing your fingers. Under weight, the basket sags and spillages frequently occurred. That's not so good when you're carrying whites out to the clothes line. I recommend a sturdier Wal-Mart basket, and it only costs a few dollars more. But it's bigger, stronger and made for heavier loads.

Cat eats rare
African Newt Jersey City - A Persian cat ate a rare 12000 dollar African newt, and as a result may have extinguished the species from the US. The newt, a 3 inch green lizard, is a rare species found only in the remotest part of Zambia, and it is bred for advanced medical testing for vaccines. This newt was the only living specimen due to the death of a male only 3 days before. Jerome Garney had captured the newt after a 30 day expedition and had brought it back to America in the hope of breeding it. His luck turned sour when the male, captured several months earlier, died a natural death. Garney was devastated, but had already made inquiries as to the whereabouts of the only other living male known to be in captivity. Last Friday, he was horrified to see his Persian Cat munching on the prized lizard. Says Garney - " I wanted to rip the cat's stomach open, but I didn't see the point. The lizard was already dead...". Unfortunately, the real victims are the thousands of patients who rely on the lizards for their vaccine. Says one unidentified patient - " If i ever get my hands on that cat, I'll rip his fur out hair by hair". The cat has since been admitted to a cat relocation program in order to prevent any attempt on its life. |
