| Consumer Tip On What Not To Buy! |
News Brief | |||
We all depend on a sturdy remote control, and now with the introduction of a myriad of electronic accessories, we look for one which can handle the entire load. This is certainly not a feature this remote can boast about. It looks cheap because it IS cheap. I hooked this gizmo to my system and tried it - I managed to get my garage door open, but the TV never came on. However, the next day my neighbor told me that his TV mysteriously went on and off about 200 times. Hmmm....The remote itself cannot take the abuse of children, due to the fact that it can very easily be reprogrammed. So, let's say you want the television ON, but the stereo starts blasting some Van Halen....That's not what I had in mind. Your best bet is to buy a quality unit in the 75 dollar range and start enjoying the equipment you spent your money on. Why buy a 15 dollar remote for a 2000 dollar sound system ? Would you buy 20 dollar tires for your porsche ? I think not. I give this electronic junk a three thumbs down.
" It was easier to get my fat butt off the couch and switch things on manually...If I want an unreliable remote control, I'll use my wife..." Conrad Shepter "I had to change the batteries every day. My battery bill was over 100 dollars a month...What a ripoff." Sonja Kinsch -Opinions are sent in

Bird Rescues Deaf Man from Certain Death Athens, Greece - A 2 oz budgie rescued his deaf owner from a blaze which ripped through a suburb of Athens earlier this week. Arthemis Gumas was laying on the couch watching soccer on television, when all of the sudden his budgie, Sperkos, began flying around his head, frantically waving his wings. Gumas tried to swoosh him away, but the bird was persistent in its actions. Gumas continued to sway the bird aside, in order to catch the last two minutes of a shoot out between the Greek championship team and their arch-rivals, the Italians. But the bird wouldn't give up, and finally laid a large stream of bird-dropping on the coffee table. Gumas was astounded to see the bird droppings spell out the letters S-O-S ! He realized at that moment that there was trouble in the air, and looked out his window. The entire building was in flames and he quickly grabbed Sperkos and fled to the safety of the street. Gumas had nothing to say except that he was happy to be alive. Sperkos was awarded the Greek Bravery Medal for Animals. This is yet another testimonial of the hidden instincts of the animal world. |
