CONSIDERATE 
          PART 17

They went into the hall; and there, to Jason's complete astonishment,
lay old Wynn.  Jason recognized him easily from the newspaper 
photographs he had seen.  "Hard-looking duffer, isn't he?" Jason said,
trying to stifle an involuntary tremor in his voice.  The man nodded
without speaking.
     They carried the lax body out through the rain and put it in the
truck.  When the job was done, the man stood for a moment, looking up
into the black clouds.  "It's clearing," he said matter-of-factly.  "In
an hour the rain'll be over.  Maybe if you wiped your ignition now, your
truck'd start.  It's had a chance to dry a little."
     "I'll try it," Jason said.  He opened the hood and wiped the 
distributor caps and points and around the spark plugs with his hankerchief.
He got in the truck, stepped on the starter, and the motor caught almost
immediately.
     The man stepped toward the truck door.  Jason doubled his fist, ready
for anything.
